Sports Academy Open PSA

Sports Academy Open PSA

We hosted the annual Sports Academy Open PSA last weekend, boasting strong draws in both the men’s and women’s events. Both draws were strong and the HCSC crowds were treated to great matches across all three days of competition!
There were some brilliant displays from HCSC players; with Emily and Mumin narrowly missing out on big wins in their first rounds 3-1 and 3-2 respectively, Diego putting in strong performances to reach the second round, dominating in the first round before a tight battle against an established player, and Rob also bowing out in the second round.
Both finals were great spectacles and very closely contested throughout. In the women’s event, Emily Coulcher-Porter amazed the crowd with her ambidextrous style and quality squash to defeat talented England junior teammate Reka Kemescsei 3-1. On the men’s side, top seed Ahmed Rashed continued his great form in impressive fashion to come back from a game behind and beat AbdAllah Eissa 3-1.
We also hosted junior friendlies on Sunday morning before the final, which was well attended by 25 youngsters. Lots of the juniors and parents then stayed to enjoy the PSA finals. It’s great for the juniors to see the pros, many of who are still or only just out of juniors themselves, close up and be inspired to improve their own games!
Across the course of the weekend there were plenty of incredible matches and overall, the level and depth of the draws was probably the best we’ve had to date. Thanks to everyone who took part, reffed and supported the event! We’re already looking forward to next year
