Hunts County Squash Club’s annual 20 Minute Championships concluded with some epic finals this weekend!

The unique handicap format is a real lever, with the lower seeded player starting each match ahead and the stronger player trying to overtake them over a gruelling twenty minutes with no breaks.

The standout performance of the event came from twelve year old Michael McKellar, who overcame last year’s champion Zafer Bilen with a dominant performance in the final. It wasn’t all smooth sailing for the youngster however, who came through the semi-final by just a single point!

The doubles final was a nail-biter and both pairs were level when the timer ran out, resulted in a sudden-death rally. Sarah-Jane Hilton and Dave Moreau clinched the decisive point to defeat Emily Fuller and Marcus Latimer.

Marcus did managed to claim victory in the Racketball final after overcoming a deficit against Simon Mitchell.

It was a great event and an opportunity for players of all levels to get on court in a fun and inclusive event. Thanks to sponsors K2 Sheetmetal and Painting Limited.

Next up is the turn of the juniors, with the Cambridge Junior Squash League finals taking pace at HCSC on Sunday 31st May!
